Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What are DTF transfers?

DTF (Direct to Film) transfers are full-colour heat transfers that can be applied to a wide range of fabrics using a heat press. They produce vibrant colours, sharp detail and excellent durability, making them perfect for t-shirts, hoodies, workwear, sports uniforms, tote bags and much more.

Why choose DTF instead of vinyl or screen printing?

DTF transfers allow you to print full-colour designs, gradients, photos and fine detail without weeding or expensive setup costs. They're ideal for both one-off prints and bulk orders, offering excellent durability with a soft, flexible finish.

What fabrics do DTF transfers work on?

Our transfers work on cotton, polyester, cotton/poly blends, canvas, denim and many other fabrics. They're one of the most versatile garment decoration methods available.

Are your transfers printed in Australia?

Yes! Every order is printed right here in Australia using premium inks, film and powder before being carefully packed and shipped Australia-wide.

Is there a minimum order?

No. Whether you need a single transfer or multiple gang sheets, we're happy to help.

How long do DTF transfers last?

When applied using our recommended pressing instructions and cared for correctly, DTF transfers can last for many washes while maintaining excellent colour and flexibility.

Can I use a home heat press?

Yes. A quality home heat press works well for DTF transfers. We don't recommend using a household iron, as it can't provide the consistent heat and pressure needed for reliable results.

Artwork & File Setup

What file types do you accept?

We recommend PNG files with transparent backgrounds for the best results. We also accept PDF, AI, EPS, SVG and high-quality PSD files.

What resolution should my artwork be?

For the sharpest prints, artwork should be supplied at 300 DPI at the size you want it printed.

Should my artwork have a transparent background?

Yes. Transparent PNG files are ideal. If your artwork has a white or coloured background, it will usually print unless removed beforehand.

Can you remove my artwork background?

Yes. If your artwork needs minor adjustments or background removal, we're happy to help. Additional artwork charges may apply depending on the complexity.

What happens if my artwork is low quality?

Low-resolution artwork may appear blurry or pixelated when printed. If we identify a major quality issue, we'll let you know before proceeding.

Can I upload multiple designs?

Yes. The easiest way is to place multiple designs onto a gang sheet, allowing you to maximise the available print area.

How do I create a gang sheet?

Simply use our online Gang Sheet Builder to upload, resize and arrange your artwork before placing your order. It's quick and easy to use.

Pressing & Aftercare

What temperature should I press at?

We recommend pressing at 160°C using firm, even pressure.

How long should I press for?

Press your transfer for 15 seconds, then complete a 10-second repress after peeling.

Should I hot peel, warm peel or cold peel?

Our transfers are designed to be warm peeled. Allow the transfer to cool for around 5–10 seconds before removing the film.

Can I use a Cricut EasyPress?

A Cricut EasyPress may work for small designs, but a quality heat press provides much more consistent pressure and is recommended for the best results.

How do I wash garments after pressing?

Wait at least 24 hours before washing. Wash garments inside out in cold or warm water using a mild detergent.

Can I tumble dry garments?

For the longest life, line drying is recommended. If using a dryer, tumble dry inside out on a low heat setting.

How long should I wait before washing?

Wait at least 24 hours after pressing before washing the garment.

My transfer is lifting after washing. Why?

This is often caused by insufficient pressure during application or not completing the final repress. Always follow our recommended pressing instructions for the best results.
