How to Press
Your Transfers
Follow these steps and your DTF transfers will go down perfectly every time. Works for heat presses and industrial presses.
Step by Step
Temperature
Heat to 160°C
Pre-heat your press to 160°C and allow it to fully reach temperature before pressing. Pre-press your garment for 3–5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
Pressure
Set Firm Pressure
Apply firmpressure — firm enough to bond the adhesive but not so heavy it distorts the garment. If your press has a scale, aim for around 3–4 out of 5.
Press Time
Press 10-15 Seconds
Place your transfer film-side up on the garment, cover with a silicone sheet or baking paper, and press for 10-15 seconds. Don't lift early.
Peel
Warm Peel
Remove the garment from the press and allow it to cool slightly — about 5–10 seconds. While still warm (not hot, not cold), peel the film back slowly and evenly at a low angle.
Finish
Repress 10 Seconds
Cover with a silicone sheet or baking paper and repress for a final 10 seconds. This locks in the adhesive and gives your transfer a smooth, soft-hand finish.
💡 Pro Tips
- Always pre-press your garment to remove moisture — damp fabric is the #1 cause of failed transfers.
- Use a Teflon sheet or baking paper over the transfer to protect your press platen and get an even press.
- If edges are lifting after peeling, your pressure may be too low or the peel was too fast — repress and peel again slowly.
- DTF works on cotton, polyester, blends, leather, nylon and more. Results are best on 100% cotton or poly-cotton blends.
- Wash inside-out in cold water for longest transfer life.
