APPLICATION GUIDE
How to Apply DTF Powder
Apply immediately after printing while ink is still wet. Timing is everything — don't let the ink dry before powdering.
STEP 01
Print Your Design
Print your design onto DTF film using your printer and RIP software. The ink needs to still be wet when you apply the powder.
STEP 02
Apply Powder
Sprinkle powder generously over the printed area while ink is wet. Gently tilt and shake the film to coat every part of the design evenly.
STEP 03
Shake Off Excess
Tilt the film and gently tap to remove loose powder from non-printed areas. Collect and reuse excess powder — don't waste it.
STEP 04
Cure the Powder
Pass through a curing oven, or use a heat press at 120°C for 2–3 minutes with light pressure. The powder should melt and look glossy — not dull or powdery.
STEP 05
Cool & Store
Allow the film to cool completely before stacking or rolling. Your transfers are now ready to press onto garments whenever you need them.
STEP 06
Heat Press
Press onto your garment at 160°C, medium pressure, 10–15 seconds. Warm peel, then repress. The powder adhesive bonds the transfer permanently to the fabric.
⚠️ Common Mistake to Avoid
Don't let the ink dry before applying powder — if the ink dries, the powder won't stick. With automatic powder shakers this happens instantly, but if you're doing it manually work quickly and only powder one sheet at a time.
USAGE GUIDE
How Much Powder Do I Need?
Powder usage varies depending on your print coverage and application method. Here's a rough guide.
~30m
Per 1kg Bag
Approximate yield on 42cm wide film with full coverage designs
~50m
With Powder Shaker
Automated shakers use powder more efficiently by applying an even coat and collecting excess
Reuse
Excess Powder
Always collect and reuse excess powder shaken off the film — it's perfectly usable and reduces waste
💡 Manual vs Automatic Application
Manual powder application works perfectly well for low to medium volume production. For high volume printing, a powder shaker/curing oven combo gives more consistent results and saves time. Either way, 1kg will go a long way when you're collecting and reusing the excess.
